The desolate deserts and mountains around Alice Springs; Uluru, Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta, Ellery Creek, Glen Helen etc. Impressive landscapes and a fantastic safari from Wayoutback with tripleA rating for guide/driver Kate! Most impressive are the sunsets, with the bright yellow-orange glow after the sun has disappeared.

I did not see many birds as we were travelling a lot, but Emu, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Black-breasted Buzzard, Dingo's and various Wallaby's were exciting. And we made a short stop for the Major Mitchells' Cockatoo beside the road.

The stay at the Pathdorf B&B offered good birding in the ecological garden. Besides the Western Bowerbird the Splendid Fairy-wren was the highlight, amazing colours!
