TOH-birdrace

Some teams were already birding for more than 12 hours when team cropkonings started in the afternoon. We focussed on swifts, all-or-nothing!, as it would be really hard to beat the great finding of a Greater-Sand earlier in the day. No white rumps, white-tipped secondaries or needled tails, but we still managed to score a rather surprising 3-pointer! Checking and photographing Swift is great fun anyway, there were many hundreds.

The pair of Montagu's Harrier has returned and showed nice in the evening.

And some images from a short visit to Texel last week, the Surf Scoter was too distant but Sandwich Terns seem to breed everywhere along the coast, spectaculair!
